Chat Nicely (“Chat Nicely,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is designed to provide children with a safer, positive environment for communicating, discovering shared interests, and practicing kind online interactions.
Protecting children’s privacy is central to the design of Chat Nicely. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, when information may be shared, and the choices available to parents and legal guardians.
Chat Nicely is designed for children ages 6–13.
For children under 13, we obtain verifiable parental consent when required by applicable law before collecting personal information that requires such consent.
Parents and guardians may contact us to review their child’s personal information, request its deletion, withdraw previously provided consent, or prevent further collection or use of the child’s information.
A child will not be required to provide more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate in an activity.
These principles reflect COPPA requirements for covered child-directed services.
Depending on the features actually enabled, Chat Nicely may collect information such as:
Children ages 6–9 use structured, button-based communication rather than unrestricted free typing.
Children ages 10–13 may use limited typed communication, subject to parental permissions and Chat Nicely’s safety systems.
Typed communications may be automatically analyzed, filtered, blocked, or reviewed for safety and moderation purposes.
Chat Nicely should not be used to share sensitive personal information such as home addresses, telephone numbers, passwords, school information, or outside social-media contact information.
We may use collected information to operate Chat Nicely; provide rooms, profiles, prompts, reactions, and communication features; personalize appropriate in-app experiences; administer parental controls; provide subscriptions and purchases; detect inappropriate content or attempted sharing of personal information; investigate reports; protect children and other users; maintain security; troubleshoot and improve the service; comply with legal requirements; and provide customer support.
We do not sell children’s personal information.
We do not use children’s chat activity to create behavioral advertising profiles.
Chat Nicely uses safety measures intended to help prevent inappropriate behavior and content.
Depending on the feature, these may include automated content filtering, personal-information detection, moderation systems, reporting tools, account restrictions, and human review of flagged content.
No moderation technology can guarantee that inappropriate content will never appear. Parents should continue to discuss safe online behavior with their children.
We may disclose information to service providers that help us operate Chat Nicely, such as providers supporting hosting, security, moderation, customer support, subscriptions, or other necessary infrastructure.
Such providers should receive only information reasonably necessary to perform their services and must be required to protect that information appropriately.
We may also disclose information where reasonably necessary to comply with law, respond to lawful legal requests, protect the safety of a child or another person, investigate fraud or security incidents, or protect our legal rights.
Children’s activity and personal information will not be used for behavioral advertising.
We retain children’s personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, fulfill the purpose for which it was collected, satisfy legitimate safety or legal requirements, or as otherwise permitted by law.
When information is no longer reasonably necessary, we take appropriate steps to delete it securely.
COPPA specifically requires covered operators to retain children’s personal information only as long as necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
Subject to applicable law, a parent or legal guardian may:
Requests may be made through:

We may take reasonable steps to verify that the person making a request is the child’s parent or legal guardian.
Parents can request deletion of their child’s Chat Nicely account and associated personal information from within the application.
Parent Dashboard → Settings → Privacy & Safety → Delete Child’s Account
Certain information may be retained when reasonably necessary or legally required, including records needed for security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or compliance obligations.
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure.
Access to children’s personal information should be limited to authorized personnel and service providers who need access for legitimate operational or safety purposes.
However, no online system can guarantee absolute security.
Purchases and subscriptions may be initiated or managed through the parent-facing portion of Chat Nicely and applicable app-store services.
Chat Nicely does not need to receive complete payment-card information when transactions are processed directly by the applicable app store.
Purchase and subscription status may be maintained so that the correct features can be provided.
Chat Nicely may use carefully selected third-party technology providers necessary to operate the service.
Before release, we evaluate providers that may process children’s information and configure them appropriately for a child-directed service.
We may update this Privacy Policy when Chat Nicely’s features, practices, or legal obligations change.
The updated policy will display a revised Last Updated date. Where required, we will notify parents and obtain new consent before materially changing how previously collected children’s personal information is used.
